Winter Tour Viking Village, Nærøyfjord Cruise & Flåm Railway
About This Experience
Fjordrive's minibus version of the Viking village day, listed on GetYourGuide as its winter tour. It covers the same three things as the bigger coach tour: the Viking village of Njardarheimr in Gudvangen, a cruise on the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord and the Flåm Railway, in a Mercedes minibus rather than a full coach.
The day starts at 7:30 a.m. outside the Tourist Information office on Strandkaien in central Bergen, stops in Dale and at Tvindefossen waterfall, and reaches the village for a guided visit of about 45 minutes. After the cruise to Flåm you have a short break, then ride the Flåm Railway up to Myrdal and take the Bergen Railway back to the city, about 10.5 hours in all.
The guide is with you as far as the village; on the boat and the trains you travel on your own with the tickets you are given. Children under four are not allowed, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated, and meals are not included.

Our guide was very sweet, attentive, witty, and talkative; we really thank him. However, the Viking village didn't impress me at all; we expected a more professional village, and I can say that I wasn't particularly impressed by the fjords either. We also didn't understand why the Flam train line is so popular. As a couple who have traveled to many parts of the world, perhaps our expectations were high, but unfortunately, it wasn't a very impressive route. The price of the tour was really high, but we don't think we got our money's worth; the route didn't excite us.
