How Much Does the Bergen Viking Village Tour Cost?
Guided day trips from Bergen to Njardarheimr Viking Village start from about $310 per person. Most of the price difference comes down to one thing: whether the day includes the Flåm Railway.
Every guided day trip to Njardarheimr Viking Village starts in central Bergen, and puts you on the same two-hour electric cruise on the Nærøyfjord between Gudvangen and Flåm. What changes with the price is whether the day also includes the Flåm Railway.
The main differences
- A good all-round choice: the Viking Village, Nærøyfjord Cruise and Flåm Railway coach tour, from $417 per person, rated 4.8/5 from more than 1,450 reviews.
- The Flåm Railway explains most of the price gap. Tours that skip it start from about $310 to $324; the ones that include it start from $395.
- The village and the fjord cruise are included on every village tour here. Paying more does not get you a longer cruise or a better view of the Nærøyfjord.
- Lunch is extra on every tour. Only the Travel North tour includes even a coffee break.
- Prices are per person, so a group pays one fare each. At the starting price, four adults pay $1,668 on the coach tour with the railway and $1,296 on the Travel North tour without it.

The tour we’d compare first
The coach tour from the Guided Fjord Tours office on Strandkaien has by far the most reviews of any Viking village tour, and the calendar above shows its open dates and the price for your group.
The coach tour with the Flåm Railway
The Viking Village, Nærøyfjord Cruise and Flåm Railway coach tour starts from $417 per person for a 10.5-hour day. Its listing includes the coach from Bergen, a guided visit to Njardarheimr, the Nærøyfjord cruise on the all-electric Future of The Fjords, the Flåm Railway and the Bergen Railway. It is rated 4.8/5 from more than 1,450 reviews, a far longer track record than any other tour on this page.
Fjordrive’s minibus tour covers the same three things for about $22 less, but it is listed as a winter tour and has 33 reviews. For most dates, the extra $22 gets you the tour with the most reviews and a guide who stays with the group all day. It makes most sense for a first visit when the Flåm Railway is part of the reason you are going. It is a poorer fit if you want time to wander in Flåm: recent reviewers say there is very little.
If you can skip the Flåm Railway
Travel North’s Viking Village and Nærøyfjord tour starts from $324 per person, $93 less than the coach tour above. You still get the village with entrance and a guided tour, the two-hour cruise and an hour in Flåm, and from 1 May to 16 October the coach stops at the Stalheim Hotel above the Nærøydalen valley for a coffee break, which is included. The bus brings you home, so there is no Flåm Railway. It is rated 4.5/5 from 26 reviews, a much shorter history than the coach tour.
Best for travellers who would rather have an hour in Flåm and a view from Stalheim than the train ride.
Check dates for the Travel North tour
On a winter date, in a smaller vehicle
Fjordrive’s minibus tour to the Viking village, the Nærøyfjord and the Flåm Railway starts from $395 per person, shown as a discount from $439. It follows the coach tour’s route in a Mercedes minibus, with stops in Dale and at Tvindefossen, a guided visit of about 45 minutes in the village, the cruise to Flåm, the Flåm Railway up to Myrdal and the train back to Bergen. It is rated 4.6/5 from 33 reviews.
GetYourGuide lists it as Fjordrive’s winter tour. The guide stays with you as far as the village, and the boat and the trains are on your own, and one reviewer noted there were no reserved seats on the train back. Children under four are not allowed.

The cheapest listing, with no reviews yet
Fjordrive’s Stegastein, Viking Village, Flåm and Nærøyfjord tour starts from $310 per person, shown as a discount from $345. It swaps the Flåm Railway for the Stegastein viewpoint above the Aurlandsfjord and gives 45 minutes of free time in Flåm, then drives you back to Bergen. It is a new listing with no reviews so far, so we’d wait for a few before choosing it over the Travel North tour, which costs $14 more.
What do Bergen Viking Village tours cost?
The table lists the guided day trips from Bergen that include a visit to Njardarheimr. Fjord tours that only pass through Gudvangen without stopping at the village are left out, because they are a different day.

Prices checked 9 October 2026. Operators use dynamic pricing, so these figures are a guide; check the booking page for the current price. Every tour here links to its booking page with its rating and review count beside it, and a low count is a warning to read the reviews, not a verdict.
What you get as you spend more
Mostly the Flåm Railway. The village visit and the fjord cruise barely change across the range.
Around $310 to $324: the village and the fjord, back by road. You get the guided village visit, the two-hour cruise and time in Flåm, then the bus home. The Travel North tour is the one with reviews, and it adds a coffee stop at Stalheim in summer.
Around $395 to $420: the same day plus the Flåm Railway. Part of the journey moves from the road to the train: the Flåm Railway between Flåm and Myrdal, and the Bergen Railway between Myrdal and Voss or Bergen. On the Guided Fjord Tours coach tour that step costs $93 over the Travel North tour. It also leaves less time in Flåm, because the day is built around the train timetable.
Above $500: a smaller group. The only tour in this range adds a small group and nothing else that the coach tour lacks (see the next section).
Tours that offer less for the price
Travenor’s Flåm Railway, Viking Village Tour with Fjord Cruise starts from $512 per person, $95 more than the coach tour, for a small-group version of the same village, cruise and railway. It is rated 4.6/5 from just 15 reviews, and its listing is inconsistent: the description talks about a pickup from your hotel and a visit to Jotunheimen National Park, while the list of exclusions includes pickup and drop-off and no Jotunheimen stop appears in its itinerary. Ask the operator to confirm the meeting point (Bellgården 2 on the listing) before paying the premium.
What stays the same whatever you pay
Paying more does not change the fjord. Every tour on this page includes the guided visit to Njardarheimr, where the gate price is NOK 260 (about $27) for an adult, and the same two-hour electric cruise on the Nærøyfjord between Gudvangen and Flåm. Every one offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
The time in the village is short whichever you book, between about 30 minutes and an hour, and the village keeps winter hours of 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. from November to March. What does change is the vehicle (coach or minibus), how you get home, how long you have in Flåm and the length of the review history behind the tour. Our comparison of the Viking village tours from Bergen sets the itineraries side by side.
What the starting price assumes
It is the cheapest date. Tour the Fjords, which runs the coach tour from the same Strandkaien 16 office, publishes its own adult fare as NOK 3,990 (about $417) from October to April and NOK 4,190 (about $438) from May to September, so expect summer dates to cost more than the price above. Booking direct does not undercut GetYourGuide on a winter date.
It is an adult fare. On its own site the coach tour charges children aged 4 to 15 NOK 2,590 (about $271) out of season, so check the child price for your date when you book. Children under four are not allowed on either Fjordrive tour.
Lunch is not included. Every listing excludes meals. You can buy food in Flåm, at the village and on some stops, but the time is short, so many travellers bring lunch from Bergen.
Groups pay per person. None of these tours is priced per vehicle. At the starting price two adults pay $834 for the coach tour and $648 for the Travel North tour; four adults pay $1,668 and $1,296.
If you only have an hour in Bergen
The Viking Experience in Bergen starts from $78 per person for an hour of Viking stories, several locally brewed drinks and a charcuterie platter in a historic building in the city. It does not visit Njardarheimr, and it has no reviews yet, so book it as a short evening extra and not as a stand-in for the village.
Is it worth paying more?
Pay the extra for the coach tour with the Flåm Railway if the railway is part of why you came to western Norway, or if you would rather spend part of the day on a train than on a coach. If the Viking village and the Nærøyfjord are the point of the day, the Travel North tour gives you both for $93 less and an hour in Flåm besides. We would not pay above $500 for a smaller group on a listing with so few reviews.

How we put this together
Nobody on our team has taken these tours. Prices, ratings and inclusions come from each tour’s live GetYourGuide listing on 9 October 2026; operator fares come from the Visit Norway listings for Tour the Fjords and Fjordrive, and gate prices and opening hours from Viking Valley, which runs Njardarheimr. Norwegian kroner are converted at NOK 1 = $0.1045 (9 October 2026), so the dollar figures are approximate. We earn a commission if you book through the links on this page, at no extra cost to you. For the day itself, see what to expect on the tour, our review of the coach tour and the best time to go.
